Starting Friday, May 29, the new Spazio Ghella will open to the public at MAXXI Museum in Rome: a space dedicated to contemporary photography born from the collaboration between Ghella and the National Museum of 21st Century Arts.
On the morning of the inauguration, as part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, MAXXI welcomed the visit of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
Opening the new exhibition space is Milan Unit 1994–2009 by Ramak Fazel, a major photographic and documentary project bringing together the artist’s entire body of work produced between 1994 and 2009, during the years he spent immersed in the Italian design and architecture scene. Through negatives, slides, prints, publications, notes and working materials, the exhibition creates an immersive narrative that offers an insider’s perspective on a pivotal period for Milanese design and for the transition from analog to digital photography. A living archive intertwining photography, publishing, architecture and contemporary visual culture.
Spazio Ghella was created with the aim of hosting exhibitions and projects dedicated to contemporary photography, promoting artistic languages capable of interpreting the present through new cultural and social perspectives.
As Institutional Sponsor for Photography for Spazio Ghella, Ghella supports this new space dedicated to contemporary photography, reaffirming a collaboration built over the years around shared values and a common commitment to promoting culture, artistic research and contemporary visual languages.
